High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending April 29 totaled 125,764 head selling, compared to 121,109 head a week ago and 133,819 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 19,862 head, 1,225 to 1,540 lbs., 115.00 to 128.00 (124.43); 65 to 80% Choice, 22,531 head, 1,175 to 1,500 lbs., 115.00 to 126.50 (123.24); 35 to 65% Choice, 7,571 head, 1,170 to 1,500 lbs., 118.00 to 126.00 (123.39).
