Kansas Livestock Foundation awards $23,500 in scholarships

The Kansas Livestock Foundation has awarded 22 scholarships totaling $23,500 for the 2018 to 2019 school year. Six Kansas State University students will receive awards through the Merck Animal Health Cartridges for Cash program. Jessie Schulteis, daughter of Scott and Wyvonne Lyne from Lincoln, is a senior in the College of Veterinary Medicine and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. The other $1,500 winner is Braxton Butler, son of Leland and Rochelle Butler of Virgil, a second-year CVM student.

Four K-State animal science students will receive $1,000 CFC scholarships. Bailey Allen, daughter of Nick and Amy Allen of Council Grove, is a junior with a pre-vet option. Amy Collins from Burlington, daughter of Steve and Carie Collins, is a senior. Mallory Meek, daughter of Matt and Jennifer Meek from Spring Hill, also is a senior, with a business option. Producers in Barton County secured a scholarship for one of their students by turning in the most cartridges during 2017. The winner is junior Cody Wondra, son of Kelly and Kristen Wondra of Ellinwood.

For every empty Ralgro or Revalor cartridge turned in, Merck donates 25 cents to KLF. Cartridges can be turned in to your Merck representative, taken to a KLA meeting or brought to the KLA Convention in November.
