San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co. Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,180 head selling on June 28, compared to 1,596 head a week ago and 710 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were selling $2 to $4 lower. Slaughter cows were selling steady, slaughter bulls were selling firm to $1 higher. Stock cows and pairs were trading weak. Trading and demand was moderate. Quality was not as attractive as a week ago, mostly average to plain. Hot, dry weather continues in the area. The supply included 15% slaughter cows, 2% slaughter bulls, 75% feeders, 8% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 50% steers and bulls, 45% weighed over 600 pounds. Producers Livestock auction was closed for the July 4th holiday.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 149.00 to 158.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 138.00 to 143.00; 707 lbs., 132.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 166.00 to 174.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 147.00 to 160.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 137.00 to 147.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 126.00 to 135.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 120.00 to 127.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 400 to 500 lbs., 130.00 to 142.00; 579 lbs., 126.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 150.00 to 151.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 125.00 to 138.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 119.00 to 125.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.00 to 119.00; 813 lbs., 104.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 144.00 to 145.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 128.00 to 136.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 114.00 to 120.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 2025 lbs., 53.00 to 58.00; low dressing, 50.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1500 lbs., 56.00 to 64.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1400 lbs., 55.00 to 63.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 55.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 43.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1550 to 2350 lbs., 81.00 to 89.00; low yielding 1150 to 1600 lbs., 66.00 to 78.00.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested and all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 2, 800.00 to 860.00. Medium 2 to 3, 650.00 to 770.00.

Pairs: All were sold by the pair. All have 150 to 350 lbs., calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1160.00. Medium and large frame 2, 800.00 to 1030.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 575.00 to 710.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1000 lbs., 91.00 to 99.00 hundredweight; young and middle age, 800 to 1100 lbs., 72.00 to 89.00 hundredweight; middle age 900 to 1450 lbs., 60.00 to 71.00 hundredweight; thin and or aged 800 to 1375 lbs., 53.00 to 62.00 hundredweight.
