Dalhart livestock auction report
The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 843 head selling on June 28, compared to 1,011 head a week ago and 787 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were trading firm. There were not enough feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds on offer but a weaker undertone was noted. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady, instances of higher dressing kinds were selling $1 higher. Trade was fairly active. Demand was fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 27%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 73%. The feeder supply included 52% steers and 48% heifers. Nearly 28% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
