Sorghum cash bids steady, wheat mixed

Compared to June 26, cash bids for wheat was mixed; corn and beans were mostly higher and sorghum was steady, according to the National Grain Market Summary, June 27.

Volatility in the grain complex in recent weeks have led to farmers refrain from selling old and new crop inventories as crop commodity prices have declined considerably in the past 30 days. One crop production concern currently is yield potential, however geneticists this decade have made great strides when dealing with limited availability of moisture.

Wheat was 5 1/2 cents lower to 17 1/4 cents higher. Corn was steady to 2 cents higher. Soybeans were 1/4 to 2 1/4 cents higher. Sorghum was steady.

In the futures close, Kansas City July wheat was $4.60, up 2 1/4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.05 1/4, up 17 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, $5.77, down 5 1/2 cents; Portland, $5.80 to $6, unchanged; St. Louis, $4.94 to $5.04, up 10 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.52, unchanged; Minneapolis, $3.13 1/2, unchanged; southern Iowa, $3.34 1/2 to $3.36 1/2, up 2 cents; Omaha, $3.38 to $3.40, unchanged.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.62 1/2 to $8.67 1/2, up 1/4 cent; Minneapolis, $8.17 1/2, up 1/4 cent; southern Iowa, $8.38 1/2 to $8.45 1/2, up 1/4 to 2 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $8.52 1/2 to $8.73 1/2, up 1/4 to 2 1/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices June 27, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.55 1/4 to $5.07 1/4, up 2 1/4 cents; 12% protein, $6.20 1/4 to $6.35 1/4, up 2 1/4 cents; 13% protein, $6.40 1/4 to $6.55 1/4, up 2 1/4 cents; 14% protein, $6.40 1/4 to $6.55 1/4, up 2 1/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.15 1/2 to $3.56 1/2, up 3 1/2 to 1 cent.
