Arkansas livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending June 29, showed estimated receipts of selling 7,020 head, compared to 10,640 head a week ago and 7,365 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers under 550 pounds were selling mostly $1 to $2 higher, over 550 pounds were selling $1 to $8 lower. Feeder heifers were mixed, ranging from $4 lower to $6 higher. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 higher. The supply included 4,285 stocker and feeder calves, 1,395 feeder yearlings, 330 replacement cows, 860 slaughter cows and 150 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 31% yearling heifers. There will be no sales this week due to the July 4th holiday.
