Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction report

The Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, reported receipts of 1,772 head selling on June 29, compared to 5,260 head selling June 15 and 4,973 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture market News Service, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Compared to the June 15 sale, there were much lighter receipts. For feeder steers, the best comparisons were 600 to 650 pounds that were selling steady to $3 higher, the 650 to 700 pound steers were trading steady to $4 higher. In feeder heifers, the best comparison were made on the 600 to 700 pounds that were selling steady to $3 higher. There was good to very good demand. The feeder cattle supply was 37% steers, 63% heifers and 91% over 600 pounds.
