High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending July 8, totaled 158,153 head selling, compared to 110,690 head a week ago and 84,299 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 35,978 head, 1,275 to 1,565 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (112.63); 65 to 80% Choice, 18,225 head, 1,235 to 1,525 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00 (112.66); 35 to 65% Choice, 4,656 head, 1,180 to 1,525 lbs., 111.00 to 113.00 (112.44).
