Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending July 27, showed estimated receipts of 2,295 head selling, compared to 2,915 head a week ago and 5,750 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers under 500 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower, over 500 pounds were selling steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $1 to $7 lower. Slaughter cows were selling $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling steady. The supply included 1,385 stocker and feeder calves, 570 feeder yearlings, 40 replacement cows, 265 slaughter cows and 35 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 40% yearling heifers.
