High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending July 29, totaled 63,951 head selling, compared to 128,312 head a week ago and 99,721 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 15,034 head, 1,150 to 1,575 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00 (111.61); 65 to 80% Choice, 12,308 head, 1,225 to 1,550 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00 (111.89); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,141 head, 1,260 to 1,450 lbs., 11.00 to 112.00 (111.60). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 4,578 head, 850 to 1,008 lbs., 174.00 to 178.00 (176.17); 65 to 80% Choice, 999 head, 837 to 930 lbs., 174.00 to 178.00 (176.44).
