Winter Livestock’s ‘King of the Ring’ special sale

The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 6,836 head selling on Aug. 4, compared to 1,012 head a week ago and 4,010 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Winter Livestock Auction held the special 82nd Annual “King of the Ring” auctioneer contest. There are no market trends available due to no comparable offerings from a week ago. However, a higher undertone was noted on several load lots of high quality attractive cattle. A good crowd was on hand, with buyers from several states looking to fill orders. The feeder supply was 77% steers and 23% heifers, with 91% over 600 pounds.
