High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales report for the week ending Aug. 5, totaled 142,100 head selling, compared to 63,951 head a week ago and 79,251 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 37,485 head, 1,275 to 1,570 lbs., 109.00 to 114.00 (112.61); 65 to 80% Choice, 18,802 head, 1,125 to 1,575 lbs., 109.00 to 114.00 (113.53); 35 to 65% Choice, 3,797 head, 1,180 to 1,525 lbs., 112.00 to 114.00 (113.84). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 12,863 head, 750 to 992 lbs., 174.00 to 181.00 (177.88); 65 to 80% Choice, 8,433 head, 831 to 977 lbs., 174.00 to 181.00 (178.08).
