Tulsa Livestock Auction report
The Tulsa Livestock Auction, Tulsa, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,360 head selling on Aug. 13, compared to 2,386 head a week ago and 2,115 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steers over 500 pounds were selling $4 to $6 lower. Heifers under 600 pounds were selling unevenly steady with instances of light weight calves trading $10 higher. Demand for lighter weight cattle was extremely good. Quality was attractive. The offering included 23% of total receipts were feeder cattle over 600 pounds while 34% of the total receipts were heifers. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady. Demand for breaker cows was extremely good with instances selling $8 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $5 to $9 higher. A total of 300 cows and bulls sold with 55% going to packers.
