Arkansas livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Aug. 17, showed estimated receipts of 4,145 head selling, compared to 4,730 head a week ago and 8,000 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 300 to 400 pounds and 550 to 750 pounds were selling $1 to $4 lower, 400 to 550 pounds were selling $1 to 4.00 higher. Feeder heifers were selling $1 to $10 lower. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $3 higher. The supply included 2,865 stocker and feeder calves, 710 feeder yearlings, 150 replacement cows, 345 slaughter cows and 75 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 40% yearling heifers.
