McAlester livestock auction report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,800 head selling on Aug. 21, compared to 1,250 head a week ago and 1,550 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $3 to $6 higher. Heifer calves under 500 pounds were selling $1 to $3 lower, over 500 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher. Quality was average through attractive. Demand was good. The supply included 21% over 600 pounds with 46% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $33 higher. A total of 170 cows and bulls sold with 82% of supply.
