Arkansas livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Aug. 31, showed estimated receipts of 4,870 head selling, compared to 6,500 head a week ago and 9,360 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling $1 to $6 lower. Feeder heifers under 450 pounds were selling $1 to $2 higher, over 450 pounds were selling mostly $2 to $4 lower. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 lower. The supply included 3,375 stocker and feeder calves, 700 feeder yearlings, 145 replacement cows, 590 slaughter cows and 60 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 39% yearling heifers.
