McAlester livestock market report
The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,300 head selling on Sept. 11, compared to 1,375 head a week ago and 2,250 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $1 to $4 higher. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $5 lower. Demand was good. Quality was attractive. The supply included 27% over 600 pounds with 45% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 lower. A total of 350 cows and bulls sold with 52% going to packers.
