Cash bids end day lower

Compared to Sept. 10, cash bids for wheat, soybeans, sorghum were lower, while corn was mixed, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Sept. 11.

Despite trades expectations and seasonal tendencies, corn and soybean condition ratings both increased in the release and both stand at 68 percent good to excellent. The maturity of both the corn and soybean crops remain well above last year’s crops and the average for this date. This week’s report also showed the first harvest progress for corn at 5 percent which is above the average for this date of 3 percent but equal to last year’s pace.

Wheat was steady to 10 cents lower. Corn was from 2 cents lower to 1 1/2 cents higher. Soybeans were 10 1/2 to 21 1/2 cents lower. Sorghum was 1 cent lower.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $5.22 3/4, down 8 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.22 3/4, down 8 cents; Minneapolis, $5.50 1/4, down 4 3/4 cents; Portland, $5.90 to $5.95, unchanged to down 5 cents; St. Louis, $4.79 to $4.88, down 10 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.36 3/4 to $3.41 3/4, down 1/2 cent; Minneapolis, $3.08 3/4, up 1 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $3.19 3/4 to $3.30 3/4, down 1 1/2 to 1/2 cents; Omaha, $3.27 to $3.37, unchanged to down 2 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $7.86 3/4, down 13 1/2 cents; Minneapolis, $7.17 3/4, down 13 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $7.36 3/4 to $7.38 3/4, down 10 1/2 to 21 1/2 cents; central Illinois processors, $7.61 3/4 to $7.96 3/4,down 11 1/2 to 13 1/2 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Sept. 11, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.92 3/4 to $6.07 3/4, down 8 cents; 12% protein, $6.13 3/4 to $6.28 3/4, down 8 cents; 13% protein, $6.22 3/4 to $6.37 3/4, down 8 cents; 14% protein, $6.22 3/4 to $6.37 3/4, down 8 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.65 1/2 to $3.69, up 1 1/4 to 1 cent.
