High Plains slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Sept. 16, totaled 101,335 head selling, compared to 110,708 head a week ago and 94,127 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 29,351 head, 1,115 to 1,575 lbs., 106.50 to 111.50 (110.42); 65 to 80% Choice, 11,650 head, 1,300 to 1,575 lbs., 110.00 to 111.50 (111.19); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,148 head, 1,180 to 1,515 lbs., 111.00 to 111.50 (111.20).
