Dalhart livestock auction report
The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,159 head selling on Sept. 20, compared to 2,262 head a week ago and 1,789 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were selling firm, except 500- to 600-pound fleshy heifers were selling weak to $2 lower. Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher with the most advance on load lots on offer. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling firm to $2 higher. Quality was average to mostly attractive. Trade was fairly active on very good demand. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 19%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 81%. The feeder supply included 59% steers and 41% heifers, nearly 60% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1440 lbs., 79.00; high dressing, 1750 to 1825 lbs., 86.50 to 88.00; low dressing were not tested.
Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2 were not tested.
