High Plains slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Sept. 24, totaled 110,094 head selling, compared to 101,335 head a week ago and 112,882 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 27,996 head, 1,275 to 1,575 lbs., 108.50 to 111.50 (110.46); 65 to 80% Choice, 14,706 head, 1,275 to 1,625 lbs., 109.00 to 111.50 (110.85); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,952 head, 1,225 to 1,525 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00 (110.92).
