Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary
The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,434 head selling on Sept. 24, compared to 399 head a week ago and 522 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, there were not enough comparable sales of steers or heifers in the Sept. 17 sale’s light run for a market trend. Trade was active on good demand. Several loads of reputation steers and heifers available in the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 13%, 1% replacements and 86% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 55% steers and bulls, 45% heifers. Approximately 37% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 181.00 to 198.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 175.00 to 194.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 159.00 to 187.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 147.50 to 174.50; lot 641 lbs., 163.00, few 641 lb. calves 142.00; loads 706 lbs., 165.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 153.50 to 154.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 174.00 to 175.00; few 565 lbs., 149.00.
