Pratt livestock auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas reported estimated receipts of 2,500 head Oct. 25, compared to 3,832 head last week and 1,134 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
This is the mid-session report. Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 650 to 750 pounds were selling $5 to $7 higher, with a mostly higher undertone noted on all other comparable weights. The feeder heifers weighing 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher, with a mostly steady to slightly lower undertone on all other comparable weights. There were not enough steer and heifer calves of comparable weights for a market test. The slaughter cows were mostly steady to slightly lower and a weaker undertone was noted on both bred cows and lean cows. The bulls were mostly steady on a limited test. Overall, the demand was good to very good and the quality was average to attractive. The feeder supply was 59% steers, 41% heifers, with 97% weighing over 600 pounds.
