High Plains slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Oct. 28 totaled 130,954 head selling, compared to 91,729 head a week ago and 110,446 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 24,927 head, 1,285 to 1,635 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00 (113.51); 65 to 80% Choice, 14,822 head, 1,175 to 1,585 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00 (114.03); 35 to 65% Choice, 5,314 head, 1,200 to 1,600 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00 (114.56). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 17,193 head, 822 to 1,037 lbs., 174.00 to 181.00 (179.67); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,570 head, 851 to 992 lbs., 174.00 to 180.00 (179.94); 35 to 65% Choice, 160 head, 898 to 945 lbs., 174.00 to 180.00 (178.61).
