Springfield Livestock market report
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Missouri, reported 100% feeder cattle receipts of 1,735 head selling on Nov. 7, compared to 1,277 head a week ago and 2,639 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 550 pounds were selling steady, steer calves over 550 pounds were selling steady to $3 lower, heifer calves over 550 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower, yearlings were selling steady compared to a week ago’s limited test. Demand and supply were moderate. The feeder cattle supply included 45% steers, 1% dairy steers, 41% heifers and 13% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 32%.
