Ferguson Angus, Agra, Kansas, hosted a group of representatives from Select Sires, Beef Semen Distributors and Angus Breeders from Chile. They were at Ferguson Angus because of their interest in two new sires, Ferguson Breakout and Ferguson Trailblazer, owned by Select Sires, and to view the first available progeny of Ferguson Breakout. The representatives spent time at Ferguson Angus looking at cattle, asking questions and discussing some of the commonalities and differences between beef production in Kansas and Chile. Select Sires purchased both Ferguson Breakout and Ferguson Trailblazer at Ferguson Angus spring bull sales. The two bulls’ semen is sold in the United States and international markets. The two bulls are of interest to the South American market, which includes countries like Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile, because of their high calving ease, low birth weight EPDs, top end performance traits, superior marbling and ribeye, and moderate maternal size.
