Winter Livestock Auction report

The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, Nov. 28, reported estimated receipts of 3,000 head selling, compared to 2,343 head Nov. 14 and 2,877 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

This was the mid-session report.

Compared to the Nov. 14 sale, there were limited comparable weights, feeder steers 800 to 850 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, 850 to 900 pounds were selling steady to $4 higher. Feeder heifers 700 to 750 pounds were selling $3 to $7 higher. Steer and heifer calves were too early to establish trend. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady to $1 lower. Bulls were selling $1 to $2 higher on a limited test. Overall, demand was good to very good, quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 50% steers, 49% heifers, 01% bulls, with 74% over 600 pounds.
