Cash bids for corn, soybeans, sorghum higher
Compared to Nov. 26, cash bids for corn, soybeans, and sorghum were higher, while wheat was mostly lower, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Nov. 27.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said 94 percent of corn was harvested, 2 percentage points below its normal pace. Areas that are still behind include the Dakotas, Ohio and Pennsylvania and there is more precipitation in store this week for the eastern Midwest, including the latter two states. Ninety-four percent of soybean harvest is done as well, but also showed several states where progress is still lagging. Ninety-five percent of winter wheat is planted and 86 percent has emerged. For the wheat that is up, USDA said 55 percent was rated either good or excellent, up from 50 percent a year ago.
Wheat was steady to 9 cents lower. Corn was 1/2 to 2 cents higher. Soybeans were 12 1/4 to 14 1/4 cents higher. Sorghum was 3/4 to 1 cent higher.
In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $4.58 1/2, down 6 cents.
Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.68 1/2, down 6 cents; Minneapolis, $5.85, down 2 cents; Portland, $6.15 to $6.30, unchanged to down 5 cents; St. Louis, $5.23, down 8 to 9 cents.
Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.56 1/2, up 1/2 cent; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $3.38 1/2 to $3.47 1/2, up 1 1/2 to 1/2 cent; Omaha, $3.41 to $3.42, up 2 to 1 cent.
Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.40 1/2 to $8.45 1/2, up 13 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $8.27 1/2 to $8.33 1/2, up 12 1/4 to 14 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $8.27 1/2 to $8.60 1/2, up 13 1/4 cents.
Kansas City wheat prices Nov. 27, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.73 1/2 to $5.88 1/2, down 6 cents; 12% protein, $6.09 1/2 to $6.24 1/2, down 6 cents; 13% protein, $6.16 1/2 to $6.31 1/2, down 6 cents; 14% protein, $6.19 1/2 to $6.34 1/2, down 6 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was unavailable.
