Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction report
The Ft. Pierre Livestock Auction, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, reported receipts of 5,347 head selling on Dec. 7, compared to 7,079 head a week ago and 7,295 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 500 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher. Steer calves from 500 to 700 pounds were selling $6 to $10 higher depending on flesh and quality. Heifers from 500 to 600 pounds were selling $4 to $6 higher. The offering included 62% over 600 pounds with 70% steers, 30% heifers. Our next feeder cattle auction will be Jan. 4, 2019.
