McAlester Union Livestock Auction report

The McAlester Union Livestock Auction, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,400 head selling Dec. 11, compared to 2,500 head a week ago and 1,550 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to a week ago, steer calves were selling $3 to $6 higher. Heifer calves were selling $2 to $7 higher. Quality was average through attractive. Demand was good. The supply included 17% over 600 pounds with 49% heifers. Slaughter bulls were selling $2 higher. Slaughter cows were selling $3 to $8 higher. A total of 340 cows and bulls sold with 47% going to packers.
