Soybeans, sorghum cash bids higher, wheat, corn mixed

Compared to Dec. 10, cash bids for soybeans and sorghum were higher, while wheat and corn was mixed, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Dec. 11

The WASDE report showed soybean carryout stayed the same at 955 million bushels compared to the analyst average of 938 million bushels. Corn saw an increase of roughly 45 million bushels to 1.78 billion bushels. This compares to the average analyst estimate of 1.74 billion bushels. The change for corn’s balance sheet came from the demand side of the equation with reductions from ethanol.

Wheat was steady to 5 1/2 cents lower. Corn was from 1 1/4 cents lower to 1 cent higher. Soybeans were 3 1/4 to 5 1/4 cents higher. Sorghum was 1 1/4 higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $5.04 3/4, down 5 1/2 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.14 3/4, up 5 1/2 cents; Minneapolis, $5.95 1/4, unchanged; Portland, $6.15 to $6.30, unchanged; St. Louis, $5.46, down 4 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.74 3/4 to $3.76 3/4, up 3/4 cents; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $3.45 3/4 to $3.57 3/4, down 1 1/4 to up 3/4 cents; Omaha, $3.61 to $3.63, up 1 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.80 to $8.85, up 5 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, unavailable; southern Iowa, $8.45 to $8.59, up 5 1/4 cents; central Illinois processors, $8.69 to $9.00, up 3 1/4 to up 5 1/4 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 11, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $6.24 to $6.49, down 5 1/2 cents; 12% protein, $6.64 to $6.79, down 1 1/2 cents; 13% protein, $6.64 to $6.79, down 1 1/2 cents; 14% protein, $6.70 to $6.85, down 5 1/2 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was, unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.81 to $3.86, down 2 cents to unchanged.
