Cash bids for wheat, corn, sorghum lower
Compared to last week, cash bids for wheat, corn and sorghum were lower, soybeans were higher, according to the Weekly National Grain Market Review, Dec. 21.
Ethanol production for last week totalled 1.046 million barrels per day, steady when compared to the week prior. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said last week’s export sales and shipments of corn totaled 77.7 million and 38.4 million bushels, respectively, a neutral showing that has total shipments up 76 percent from a year ago. Last week’s export sales and shipments of soybeans totaled 104.2 million and 49.2 million bushels, respectively, a new marketing year high. Last week’s export sales and shipments of wheat totaled 11.5 million and 49.2 million bushels, respectively.
Wheat was from 5 cents lower to 45 1/4 cents lower. Corn was from 3 1/2 to 10 cents lower. Sorghum was 15 to 16 cents lower. Soybeans were 18 1/2 cents lower to 8 1/2 cents higher.
Prices are as of Dec. 21, unless otherwise noted. Grain markets were closed Dec. 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday.
In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $5.03 1/4 to $5.05 1/2, up 3 cents.
Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $5.12 3/4, down 6 3/4 cents; Minneapolis, $6.21 1/4, down 6 3/4 cents; Portland, $6.15 1/4 to $6.30, unchanged; St. Louis, $5.46, down 10 cents.
Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.68 1/2 to $3.70 1/2, up 3 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, $3.22 1/2, up 3 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.33 1/2 to $3.48 1/2, up 3 1/4 cents; Omaha, $3.59, up 4 cents.
Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $8.49 3/4, down 8 3/4 cents; Minneapolis, $8.06 3/4, down 8 3/4 cents; southern Iowa, $8.19 3/4 to $8.27 3/4, down 8 3/4 cents; central Illinois processors on Dec. 24, $8.52 to $8.74, down 2 3/4 to 3/4 cent.
Kansas City wheat prices Dec. 21, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $6.12 3/4 to $6.27 3/4, down 6 3/4 cents; 12% protein, $6.32 3/4 to $6.47 3/4, down 6 3/4 cents; 13% protein, $6.32 3/4 to $6.47 3/4, down 6 3/4 cents; 14% protein, $6.32 3/4 to $6.47 3/4, down 6 3/4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.74 3/4 to $3.79 1/2, down 1/4 to 3 1/4 cents.
