Georgia livestock auction summary report

The Georgia weekly livestock auction summary indicated receipts of 6,822 head of cattle sold for the week ending May 30, compared to 7,628 head a week ago, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News Service.

Compared to a week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady to $1 higher, the feeder steers and heifers were selling $1 to $2 lower, with feeder bulls selling $1 to $3 lower, with steer calves unevenly steady to $3 lower, the bull calves were steady to $4 lower, the heifer calves were unevenly steady to $1 lower and the replacement cows were mostly steady. The supply included 68% feeder cattle with 13% steers, 5% were dairy steers, 41% were heifers, 42% were bulls; 16% was slaughter cattle with 90% cows, 10% were bulls; and 10% was replacement cattle with 43% bred cows and 57% were cow-calf pairs. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 14%.
