Arkansas weekly summary of cattle sales

The weekly livestock auction summary from Arkansas indicated total receipts of 3,935 head of cattle for the week ending May 30, compared to 3,878 head a week ago, according to the USDA-Arkansas Department of Ag Market News, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder and stocker cattle were selling mostly $2 to $5 lower. The slaughter cows and bulls were trading mostly steady to firm. A few livestock auctions were not operating this past week due to flood waters, which put a damper on livestock movement in areas throughout the state. The supply included 80% feeder cattle with 31% steers, 0% were dairy steers, 47% were heifers and 22% were bulls; 14% was slaughter cattle with 81% cows and 19% were bulls; and 6% was replacement cattle with 4% stock cows, 54% were bred cows and 42% were cow-calf pairs. The feeder cattle supply weighing over 600 pounds was 17%.
