Kansas hay demand remains slow

Hay Markets

Compared to the last report, demand remained low, trades were slow, and prices were mostly steady, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Dec. 5.

The grinders, pellet mills and feed yards are still getting a lot of alfalfa offered to them but there are not many takers. Some folks seem to be on the prowl for good quality grass hay, but not finding to many producers willing to take on new customers, as they will barely have enough grass hay to cover current customer needs. Prices are based on averages and given on a per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
