High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Dec. 26 reported receipts of 43,913 head of cattle selling compared to 35,085 head a week ago and 36,091 head trading a year ago, according to USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. This report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. 

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 14,143 head, 1,250 to 1,670 lbs., 168.00 to 172.00 (170.39); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,794 head, 1,250 to 1,550 lbs., 168.00 to 171.00 (170.72); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,149 head, 1,275 to 1,625 lbs., 170.00 to 171.00 (170.96). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,158 head, 1,475 to 1,550 lbs., 170.00 to 172.80 (172.40). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 5,555 head, 765 to 1,101 lbs., 268.00 to 272.00 (270.38); 65 to 80% Choice, 671 head, 945 to 1,024 lbs., 269.00 to 271.00 (270.34). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,665 head, 945 to 1,021 lbs., 270.00 to 275.00 (272.01).
