High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending March 31  , reported receipts of 46,513 head compared to 80,036 head a week ago and 76,123 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 13,991 1,285 to 1,675 lbs., 185.00 to 191.00 (189.26); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,911 head, 1,225 to 1,550 lbs., 185.00 to 187.00 (185.76); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,604 head, 1,100 to 1,420 lbs., 183.00 to 186.00 (185.47). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 420 head, 1,475 to 1,550 lbs., 189.00 to 191.00 (189.67). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,994 head, 806 to 1,053 lbs., 297.00 to 302.00 (299.53); 65 to 80% Choice, 422 head, 905 to 1,037 lbs., 296.00 to 300.00 (299.18).
