High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending July 21, reported receipts of 57,809 head compared to 67,493 head a week ago and 74,776 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: 15,643 head, 1,300 to 1,650 lbs., 187.00 to 198.00 (195.58); 65 to 80% Choice, 6,092 head, 1,150 to 1,575 lbs., 186.00 to 196.00 (190.52); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,971 head, 1,150 to 1,450 lbs., 188.00 to 188.50 (188.27). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 898 head, 1,400 to 1,540 lbs., 195.00 to 199.00 (197.51); 65 to 80% Choice, 509 head, 1,350 to 1,380 lbs., 192.00 to 194.00 (193.49). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,983 head, 822 to 1,015 lbs., 308.00 to 318.00 (310.09); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,312 head, 851 to 986 lbs., 307.00 to 310.00 (309.84).
