High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending March 2, reported receipts of 42,649 head compared to 37,691 head a week ago and 62,386 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 10,142 head, 1,350 to 1,722 lbs., 197.00 to 199.00 (197.88); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,276 head, 1,330 to 1,625 lbs., 195.00 to 198.00 (196.82); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,936 head, 1,260 to 1,500 lbs., 197.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,396 head, 1,450 to 1,635 lbs., 198.50 to 202.00 (201.14). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,698 head, 853 to 1,077 lbs., 311.00 to 315.00 (312.94); 65 to 80% Choice, 958 head, 914 to 976 lbs., 313.00; 35 to 65% Choice, 80 head, 945 lbs., 311.00.
