Bruce Fickenscher, Extension director for Colorado’s southern region, has announced he will retire March 31.
In his almost 24 years of service, Bruce has served as the southeast area’s range and livestock agent, southeast area director and most recently as regional director. He started his career as a 4-H youth development/agriculture agent in Kiowa County.
In 2022 Bruce was awarded the Alton Scofield award. Scofield was a long-time executive director of the Colorado Cooperative Council, and the award recognizes county and area achievement throughout an Extension employees’ career.
An original member of the CSU Beef Team, Bruce was part of a local collaboration with Valley-Wide Health (formally Southeast Health Group) in the launch of The Coffee Break Project, a community driven effort to support the mental health of farmers and ranchers.
