Janel: Good hot days are here

Western Kansas – We made it out to western Kansas yesterday, on June 25th and we are right on time! We had a good trip and went straight to the field. The good hot days are here, and we are busy harvesting a very nice wheat crop. The dryland is high yielding, but the test weights have been lower. The crop had freeze damage in April.

We have six combines here harvesting wheat and three combines by Dodge City. All nine combines have on Shelbourne Reynolds stripper headers. Our forecast looks to be hot with highs in the 90s, and sunny and clear. I hope we can just keep going until we are finished here. The hot dry wind helps and the heatwaves do too.

We had a visit from MacDon in early June. JC, Jared and I were interviewed on what we like about our MacDon headers. I say what’s not to like about MacDon headers? We had John Deere headers for over 25 years and traded for MacDon headers in 2014. The article and 11-minute video can be found at the link listed below. Moving out to western Kansas on June 25th.
Such a pretty day and nice traveling weather.
This is the smoothest railroad track in the USA just east of Dighton. Why can’t they all be this smooth?
I love the sight of all of these beautiful wheat fields.
Harvesting wheat June 26.
A nice field of wheat to harvest.
Wow, what a nice dryland field of wheat!
It’s pretty here at wheat harvest time!
I love the sunshine and golden wheat fields! Absolutely gorgeous!
I love this time of day!
Seeing my combine shadow is the best part of the day!
