Phones are a necessary yet aggravating tool
Isn’t it amazing how all of us got so controlled by our phones.
Right now mine is down and I can’t even hardly go to the bathroom without it. I’m sure I have several messages on it saying, “Why haven’t you called me back yet.” If you go out to eat and you look at the next table and not only is every kid looking down at their phone, but mom and dad are too, with no one saying a word to each other.
Here is a suggestion for all of us. Regardless if you are taking the family out to eat or eating at your house I suggest you make everyone, including yourself, to shut their phones off. For a while they will probably sit there with nothing to say to each other because they forgot how to communicate. I bet if you do this you will learn something about your kids that you didn’t know.
All of us in the cattle business have had a great year. I agree with these calf prices some will think that it might not be good at all if we tumble in price. However, the future looks good. I would suggest to all of you to have your taxes figured or at least an estimate by Dec. 1 so that you might have time to buy cattle equipment, feed or whatever so that you don’t have to borrow a huge amount to pay the IRS.
The preacher on Sunday reminded us that the only reason we have anything is because God allowed us to have that opportunity. I imagine God sometimes feels like a dad does when he hears his 16-year-old kid say, “I bought that pickup.” And dad says, “I thought I paid for it.” All of us need to remember to be thankful. Even though there are a lot of problems in the United States we are so blessed to live here. Remind your kids often.
One day when my son claimed he was too sick to go to school I let him stay home. He claimed he had been sick all night. Then I heard a knock at the door I told my son, “Go hide your teacher is here to see if you are sick.” My son said, “You go hide I told the teacher that you had died.”
Not long ago I thought to myself I really miss my grandparents. To make it seem like they were still around I put 10 expired salad dressings the in the refrigerator plus I left the milk out all night until it had a smell.
