High Plains cattle sales report
The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 4, reported receipts of 33,279 head compared to 32,941 head a week ago and 67,988 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 14,657 head, 1,425 to 1,750 lbs., 227.00 to 234.00 (231.73); 65 to 80% Choice, 970 head, 1,275 to 1,580 lbs., 229.00 to 232.00 (230.79); 35 to 65% Choice, 545 head, 1,450 to 1,500 lbs., 232.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,369 head, 1,475 to 1,600 lbs., 230.00 to 234.00 (232.91). Dressed delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,098 head, 914 to 1,111 lbs., 355.00 to 360.00 (359.84); 65 to 80% Choice, 224 head, 970 to 1,027 lbs., 360.00. Dressed FOB, 65 to 80% Choice, 241 head, 945 to 1,048 lbs., 355.00 to 362.00 (359.47).
