Narrow-transport drills recognized for folding and transport efficiency
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers has named Great Plains Ag Division, Salina, Kansas, as a recipient of a 2026 AE50 award for its BD7410 and BD7510 narrow-transport drills.
The AE50 Awards recognize innovations in engineering and technology for agriculture. The BD7410 and BD7510 were selected for their ability to transition from full working width to a narrow transport configuration.

The mid-sized drills are available in 15-foot and 20-foot working widths and fold to less than 10 feet for transport. The design allows operators to navigate roads, bridges and gates more easily. A patent-pending hydraulic system enables multiple functions to occur simultaneously, allowing the machine to move between transport and field positions without the operator leaving the cab.
Both models build on the company’s BD7600 drill platform and use a metering system designed to handle seed and fertilizer through a single seed cup. The drills offer large-capacity seed boxes with options for split compartments to accommodate multiple products. Configurations allow for seeding a range of seed types and fertilizer in a single pass.
“Great Plains is the leader in box drills and continues to create innovative solutions to meet evolving market needs. The team has done a great job of listening to our customers and providing a solution that addresses many challenges in the market,” said James Shurts, executive director of product development and strategy.
The BD7410 is designed for minimum-till applications and offers three row spacing options, including 5-inch spacing for specialty crops. The BD7510 is intended for no-till conditions and includes a coulter for operation in tougher soils. The 20-foot model is available with 7.5-inch row spacing, while the 15-foot version offers a 6-inch spacing option.
Both models can be equipped with a native grass box for handling lighter seed mixes. Seed box configurations allow up to three products to be metered simultaneously.
