Vermeer introduces 605 S-series balers, expanding choice for hay producers

Built on decades of innovation and customer feedback, the new Vermeer 605 S-series lineup brings expanded choice and capability to the 6-ft by 5-ft round baler market.

Designed to match the way producers work, the lineup includes four models that give operators a clear path from dependable simplicity to advanced productivity and automation.

The 605 S-series lineup includes the Rancher, Signature, Premium and Cornstalk Special models, all designed around straightforward baling and premium technology-driven performance. This lineup offers choices for operators while maintaining the rugged reliability the brand is known for.

“Customers told us they wanted more choice without sacrificing the durability and performance they expect from Vermeer,” said Shane Rourke, managing director of the Pella, Iowa-based Vermeer forage division. “The 605 S-series was built around that feedback. Evolution built on proven performance

Long before technology became a selling point in hay equipment, Vermeer was integrating scales, moisture sensing and advanced in-cab controls into its balers. Those capabilities continue on the 605 S-series — refined, integrated and easier to use than ever.

The new platform builds on those foundations with meaningful advancements in automation and monitoring.

• TempSense: Bearing temperature monitoring, available on premium models, provides real-time insight into high-stress bearings, helping operators address issues early and protect uptime from events such as failures or fires.
• Automation: Auto eject simplifies the baling process, reducing operator workload during long days in the field. Once a bale reaches target size, the system automatically wraps and ejects the bale, opens and closes the tailgate, then resets for the next cycle. Designed to work with a wide range of tractors, the system makes it easier for operators to take advantage of automation with the equipment they already have.
• Control system: All models are controlled through the Atlas Pro control system, giving operators real-time feedback on density, moisture, bale shape and productivity, while allowing key adjustments, such as density, net tension and number of wraps, to be made from the cab. The focus is not on complexity but on clarity — technology that steps in so operators don’t have to.

Across the lineup, the 605 S-series introduces a rotor feeding system engineered to evenly distribute crop across the full width of the chamber. The result is more consistent bale shape, improved outer-edge density and smoother feeding, particularly in heavy, uneven windrows and challenging conditions.

The feeding system works alongside a heavy-duty drivetrain and bale-forming components designed to handle the demands of modern hay production. From dense, high-quality bales to varying crop types and field conditions, the platform is built to keep operators moving when productivity matters most.

The 605 S-series includes Rancher, Signature, Premium and Cornstalk Special configurations, allowing producers to choose the baler that best fits their operation without compromising on core performance. The 605S Rancher baler, introduced in 2025 as the first model in the S-series, is designed for dependable, straightforward baling. It delivers the core performance, durability and bale quality Vermeer is known for with lower horsepower requirements that help producers get more from the tractors they already own.

The 605S Signature baler adds performance-focused features for operators looking to bale varying crop types. Increased belt speed and a cammed pickup improve feeding consistency and throughput in varying crop types and conditions, making the Signature a choice for producers who want more output without stepping fully into premium automation.

The 605S Premium baler is designed for producers who expect their equipment to work smarter. TempSense bearing monitoring and Auto Lube come standard, while optional features such as auto eject and net lift help reduce operator fatigue and maximize productivity. With the ability to achieve greater bale density than the 605S Signature, the Premium is built for operations where efficiency, uptime and operator convenience matter most.

The 605S Cornstalk Special baler is purpose-built for abrasive crops. Built on the Premium platform, it adds standard productivity-focused features such as a powered windguard and auto eject to help improve feeding and performance in the toughest conditions.
