High Plains cattle sales report
The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Aug. 24, reported receipts of 68,041 head compared to 47,330 head a week ago and 42,271 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.
The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.
Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 23,718 head, 1,300 to 1,650 lbs., 238.00 to 248.00 (244.76); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,428 head, 1,300 to 1,616 lbs., 237.00 to 245.00 (240.42); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,351 head, 1,300 to 1,475 lbs., 237.00 to 240.00 (239.47). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 2,014 head, 1,375 to 1,600 lbs., 244.00 to 249.00 (247.11); 65 to 80% Choice, 132 head, 1,500 lbs., 245.00.
