Sorghum U and Wheat U
August 12 2020 12pm Sessions:
Brent Bean » Agronomist, United Sorghum Checkoff presenting New technologies for sorghum.
Three new and unique herbicide tolerant sorghum technologies for over-the-top grass control are expected to be introduced to grower fields in 2021.
These include Inzen
sorghum from Corteva, igrowth sorghum from Alta Seeds, and Double Team sorghum from S&W Seeds.
Sorghum companies will also soon have the ability to use double haploid
technology in their breeding programs. This, along with other technologies, will greatly speed up the time it takes to get new hybrids to the market. In addition, the United
Sorghum Checkoff is working with a number of companies to develop hybrids with specific characteristics for both domestic and international markets that demand a premium.
Nick Ward » President Ward Laboratories Inc. Speaking on proper fertility for profitable farming
.
We want to make sure farmers address fertility problems that are most critical to getting return on fertilizer dollars. Soil pH is critical
to good nutrient use, adequate phosphorus improves NUE, micro-nutrients can be low but fertilizer doesn’t always pay in dryland.
