Hands-on training for corn, sorghum, wheat handlers and producers
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host two single-day grain grading workshops on Aug. 12 and Aug. 13 at the West Texas A&M Ag Pavilion, 600 WTAMU Drive, Canyon, TX.
The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and is open to anyone interested in grain grading. Working hands-on with grain samples, participants will learn the importance of grading grain, become familiar with grain grading standards, develop proper sampling techniques, and identify different types of damage and their potential impact on grade and feeding value.
The registration fee is $100 per participant and includes lunch. Preregistration is required as class size is limited to 30 participants per day. The registration deadline is Aug. 11. Register at tx.ag/GrainGrading2026.
There is also a 10% discount for companies registering five or more employees.

- Why grade grain — DeDe Jones, AgriLife Extension risk management specialist and program co-coordinator, Department of Agricultural Economics, Canyon.
- Grain quality and the feedlot industry — Vinícius Gouvêa, DVM, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Research ruminant nutritionist and assistant professor, Texas A&M Department of Animal Science, Canyon.
- Current grain standards and upcoming changes — Tim Hall and Clayton Hanson, U.S. Department of Agriculture Federal Grain Inspection Service, Kansas City, Missouri.
- Hands-on wheat grading workshop — Hall and Hanson.
