Looking for a unique weekend adventure to kick off your summer while enjoying the scenic country roads of rural southeast Iowa? Circle June 27 to 28 on your calendar.
That Saturday and Sunday, the Jefferson County Barn Tour will have 23 stops open for touring from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The self-guided tour includes 21 historic barns, two corn cribs, an 1895 Victorian carriage house, a rare hay silo and two museums in Jefferson County. Barn owners will be on hand to share their history, and structures will be open for touring inside and out.
The tour is arranged and hosted by the Iowa Barn Foundation. The tour is free, but reservations are required for meal opportunities.
