Rometron launches WEED-IT USA expands support nationwide

Rometron has established WEED-IT USA, a new U.S. subsidiary based in Wellington, Colorado, to support growing demand for its WEED-IT precision spraying and spot-spraying technology across the United States.

The Steenderen, Netherlands-based company said the subsidiary reflects its long-term commitment to the U.S. market by expanding local leadership, distribution, service and customer support.

“The United States is one of the world’s most important agricultural markets and presents significant opportunities for precision spraying technology,” said Roel de Jonge, owner of Rometron. “With WEED-IT USA, we are making a long-term investment in the growers, dealers and partners who are helping advance more efficient and sustainable farming practices.”

The launch builds on the company’s existing relationship with AgriTech America, which has introduced WEED-IT technology to U.S. growers and expanded its customer base.

“We are proud of the work AgriTech America has done to introduce WEED-IT technology to growers in the United States,” said Adam Hutton, owner of AgriTech America. “The formation of WEED-IT USA is a positive next step for customers and for the continued growth of this technology. We look forward to working closely with Rometron and WEED-IT USA to support growers through this transition and into the future.”

WEED-IT technology uses real-time optical weed detection to apply herbicides only where weeds are present. According to the company, the system can reduce chemical use while maintaining weed control, lowering input costs and improving operational efficiency.

Rometron also appointed Doug Daws as general manager of WEED-IT USA. Daws has more than 30 years of experience in agricultural equipment and precision agriculture, including leadership positions with Caterpillar, AGCO, CNH Industrial and Trimble.

“I am honored to help establish WEED-IT USA and support the next phase of growth for WEED-IT technology in the United States,” Daws said. “Our priority is to build on the strong work already done in the market while expanding local support, technical expertise and long-term customer confidence.”

The company said existing customers and dealers will continue to receive sales and technical support through their established WEED-IT contacts, including AgriTech America, during the transition. Additional organizational and contact information will be released as WEED-IT USA continues establishing operations from its Colorado headquarters.
